Tornadoes chairman, Aliyu mourns Keshi, Amodu
The Chairman Niger Tornadoes FC, Hon Adamu Aliyu has expressed shock and disbelieve over the death of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) technical director, Coach Shaibu Amodu and former Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi.
Nigerian
football last week experienced the shocking deaths of both legendary
coaches who led the Super Eagles several times in their career.
Keshi who led Nigeria to two African Cup of Nations
title-one as a captain and the other as a coach- died on Wednesday,
June 8 of suspected cardiac arrest while Amodu died three days later on
Saturday, June 11.
Hon Aliyu said he got the news of Coach Amodu's demise while still mourning the death of Coach Keshi.
“Nigeria
have just lost two great football tacticians within a space of four
days, they were among the finest coaches the countries had ever
produced, they need to be immortalized”, he said.
He
added that entire Niger State has been thrown into mourning over the
death of Coach Amodu who was a striker with Niger Tornadoes between 1978
and 1981.
The chairman urged
the families of the coaches, the NFF and the entire football family in
the country to accept the will of God and look unto him for solace.
He
added that both Keshi and Amodu death has created a vacuum in the
football circle that would be hard to fill, adding that the country
should be grateful to the service that they (Keshi and Amodu) rendered
to their country until their death.
