silent sign of heart disease you should NEVER ignore
WARNING: Men who go to bed earlier are more likely to have a heart condition
Most people know that chest pain and breathlessness can be signs of a heart condition, but there's something else you should keep an eye on.
Wanting to go to bed early could be a sign of serious heart problems in men, according to a new study.
The research looked into the sleeping habits of 2,400 guys and found that the ones with dangerously high blood pressure, tend to go to bed much earlier than those who are healthy.
SYMPTOMS: Chest pain and breathlessness can be signs of a heart condition
Hypertension is a condition which rarely shows any symptoms, but if left untreated can lead to heart attacks and strokes.
This means it's extremely important to look out for any signs and symptoms of the condition.
On average men with hypertension went to bed at 11.10pm, while those without had an average bed time of 11.28pm.
However, once in bed those with heart conditions spend the whole night tossing and turning and had a terrible night's sleep.
The "sleep score" for men with high blood pressure was 5.3 – a score of five or more indicates a poor night. Whereas those without scored 4.7 on average.
Dr Nobuo Sasaki, who led the study, said: "Early bed times were associated with hypertension independent of anything else.”
If your blood pressure is extremely high, there are other symptoms you should look out for.
