Man United ace David De Gea breaks 50-year record at Euro 2016, see what he did.
RECORD-BREAKER: David De Gea
MANCHESTER UNITED and Spain goalkeeper David De Gea made it five
competitive clean sheets in a row since making his debut on Friday.
Turkey were swept aside by the European Championship holders 3-0, thanks to an Alvaro Morata double and a Nolito effort.
And De Gea’s run of clean sheets means he breaks Gordon Banks’ long-standing record, according to Goal.
The
25-year-old didn’t concede against Luxembourg, Macedonia, Ukraine and
Czech Republic and secured a fifth straight shut-out in Friday’s win.
Banks made his debut for England against Uruguay in 1966 and
managed to keep a clean sheet, before repeating the feats in wins over
Mexico, France and Argentina.
After a massive 442 minutes, Banks
finally conceded as Portugal’s Eusebio scored a penalty, although the
Three Lions went on to win the game 2-1.
Spain have now qualified for the last 16 of Euro 2016 after securing victories in their first two matches.
He made 49 appearances in all competitions, keeping 19 clean sheets in the process.
