Eden Hazard sent Jose Mourinho a text message after he was sacked by Chelsea

Eden Hazard struggled last season under Jose Mourinho at Chelsea but is getting close to recapturing his best form this term.

Hazard has hit seven goals for Antonio Conte’s side already this campaign, helping the Blues to the top of the Premier League table.

There were suggestions last year that Hazard and Mourinho had fallen out at Stamford Bridge, with the now Manchester United boss eventually being sacked by Chelsea in December after losing the dressing room.

And Hazard has revealed the text message he sent to Mourinho after his dismissal.

“I sent him a message just to say good luck,” the 25-year-old told BBC’s Football Focus.

“I hope he can win some games - but not too much because we want Chelsea to be champions!

“I want him to be at the top again.”

“I’m playing without pain,” the Belgium international said.

“Last year was complicated. Some people didn’t believe it but I played with an injury for a long time.

“I was never 100 per cent, and when you’re not completely fit it’s hard to play at your best. But I had a good break after the Euros, a good pre-season, and was ready. 

“Liberated, yes. It feels like that sometimes, being injury-free and if a system brings the best out of you.”
