Movie: All is Set for the Premiere Of "It's Her Day", A Movie By Bovi
Bovi is set to premiere his movie "It's Her Day, She Will Kill For It" later today at Genesis Deluxe Cinema.
The premiere, which will open with a special red carpet reception, will attract distinguished guests, including Nollywood stars, who will be among the first set of Nigerians to see the movie before it goes public.
The movie which is a Romantic Comedy directed by Aniedi Anwah, parades the likes of Omoni Oboli, Amanda Ebeye, Ini Dima-Okojie, Shaffy Bello, Toni “Tones” Adefuye, Thelma Ezeamaka, Enajite Dede, Gregory Ojefua and Bovi, who played the lead role as the lover boy.
On a media briefing held recently in Lagos to herald the movie, Bovi said, “the script for the movie was originally written in 20014, but I had to rejig it and we produced it this year. I don’t want to give out too much about the movie, but when you come for the premiere, you will understand the message,”
Speaking on his switch from full time comedy movies Bovi said “A lot of people know me as a comedian today, but I started out on TV. I was part of the Extended Family, which showed for three years and later did Bovi Ugboma Show. So, this it not a switch like some people tagged it, I’ve always been a TV person,”
When asked about the choice of cast, the comedian said “we had auditions, but there were some cast members that I know their pedigree; I reached out to them. As for Toni Tones, I’m a fan of her music and photography and she actually sent her audition video, though we didn’t get back to her. She had to travel all the way down to Nigeria for the audition and was selected. So, everybody of this project was selected based on merit.”
“I’ve never been a fan of known faces, not because they don’t deliver, but because I’m concerned about the story. I wouldn’t mind having stars, but there’s this issue of budget. However, if you have a good story, your movie will always sell.”
He was asked why it took him so long to make the movie, he said “There’s time for everything. I worked with RMD where I cut my teeth in moviemaking, but I couldn’t start with movie because I didn’t have the budget. However, I’m still a comedian.”
He has confident that the movie will gain acceptance.
“As a human being, you will always have butterfly in your stomach. We just have to move on; we’ve done our part, it’s up to the audience to decide. But we did a good work,” he noted.
