Man Claims His Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Set His Jeep On fire

In recent weeks, there gas been several reports of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 explosions which prompted the tech gaint to recall the smartphone.

A man in Florida, Nathan Dornacher said his Note 7 set his Jeep on fire while he was charging it through the center console of the vehicle. The car, a Grand Cherokee was utterly destroyed from the explosion and subsequent burning of the car.

Although insurance is paying for the totaled vehicle, Dornacher says he’s still out thousands of dollars for modifications he made to the Jeep.

Previously an iPhone fan, Dornacher swapped to Samsung once he first became aware of the Note line. He says he’s traded in for a new Note annually for the past several years, but after this incident, he doesn’t want another Samsung product in his house ever again.



Fortunately, nobody was in the vehicle when the device allegedly exploded. Dornacher, his wife, their 8-year-old daughter, and the family dog had driven to a Labor Day yard sale on Monday morning. The smartphone in question was left on the charger while Dornacher and his wife unloaded a desk from the back of the vehicle. After spending a few minutes inside the house, Dornacher told his daughter to head back to the Jeep… only to look out the window and see that it was engulfed in flames.

Even though there it has not been confirmed whether the smartphone was actually the cause of the explosion, many Note 7 users are having a lot of chills down their spin.

Samsung on the other hand has released a statement about the event.

"We are aware of the incident and we are working with Mr. Dornacher to investigate his case and ensure we do everything we can for him. Consumer safety is Samsung’s highest priority. With regard to the Galaxy Note 7, we are asking owners to take advantage of the Product Exchange Program announced on Friday of last week.
