About 65 policemen have reportedly been arrested by the 'Anti-Extortionist Squad' in different parts of the Lagos State in the last month over various offences.
The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Mr Fatai Owoseni

directive issued by the Inspector-General of Police on zero tolerance to
corruption and unprofessional conduct within the force.
Owoseni added that the squad arrested 33 officers as of August 8, 12 others as of August 24 and another 20 by September 8.
”Some
of them have been recommended for dismissal; some to be demoted in
ranks. Those involved in unlawful killing have been charged to court for
murder.
”Some others are undergoing
departmental orderly room trials. There is no place for corrupt and
unprofessional police in Lagos command,” he said.
Owoseni
disclosed that he has embarked on re-orientation and retraining as part
of their efforts to keep to the ethics of the force in the state.
According
to the CP, 75 constables have gone through training in handling of arms
at the Ikeja Police College, in a bid to check accidental discharge.
He
concluded that the actions of the officers would be accounted for while
