Awka Etiti Crown New Traditional Ruler

Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has presented a Certificate of Recognition to HRH, Igwe Micheal Chidozie Ezeudenma, the newly elected traditional ruler of Awka Etiti, in Idemili South local government area of the state.
The event which took place at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia attracted many dignitaries and a large number of the people of Awka Etiti, including some chieftains in the community.
Presenting the certificate of recognition to the Igwe elect, Governor Obiano said the election was in line with the stipulated laws of choosing an Igwe Igbo land.
According to the Governor ” the presentation is in accordance with the traditional rulers Act of 1981, which made fully satisfied that you HRH, Igwe Michael Chidozie Ezeudenma of Awka Etiti community in Idimili south Local Government Area, has been duly elected and presented to me by the people of the said community, town. In accordance with the customary law and usages of the town, community and in provisions of section 4, 5, 6 of the traditional law of 1981 do hereby satisfied that you had been accordingly been recognized by me as the traditional head of Awka Etiti . “
The Governor urged the new traditional ruler to maintain peaceful co-existence among the people of the community, saying that ascending the throne was a divine intervention to ameliorate the sufferings of indigent people in the community.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr Greg Obi said that chieftaincy tussles in Awka – Etiti community dates back to the 80s. He said the long struggle for a widely accepted Igwe led to the 2004 constitution of the community which prescribed rotation in choosing the Igwe as a way of maintaining peace in the community.
Chief Obi pointed out that the election of the new traditional ruler was in line with the stipulated traditional Act of the state, and his landslide victory in the preceding election was an indication that peace and justice have been restored finally in the community.
Equally speaking, the traditional ruler of Mbaukwu, HRM, Igwe Peter Anugwu while commending Governor Obiano for his transformation agenda, charged the newly elected traditional ruler to always uphold the tradition and customs of Igbos while enthroning meaningful development in the community.
Igwe Anugwu charged him to respect constituted authorities, especially the present administration of Governor Obiano.
In his reaction, the newly elected Igwe, HRH, Igwe Micheal Chidozie Ezeudenma who appeared highly elated commended the Governor for his administrative skills and unprecedented development of the state.
Igwe Ezeudenma promised that his 35 years of experience in the civil service would be an asset in attracting tangible development in Awka-Etiti community which he described as Long in coming.
