Conte turns to trophy-laden free agent in surprise Chelsea swoop - nedus sport

Antonio Conte is ready to turn to recently released Juventus defender Martin Caceres in order to bolster his defensive ranks, according to Italian outlet CalcioMercatoWeb.

Though the Blues splashed out to bring former star David Luiz back to Stamford Bridge on Deadline Day, the West London giants are still somewhat light defensively.

With both John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic well over 30, the Stamford Bridge titans are said to be considering a move for the 29-year-old free agent.

Conte worked with the Uruguayan during their time together at the Old Lady, as the pair won three Serie A titles on the trot together.

They come amid a monumental trophy haul for the defender, who has also won La Liga and the Champions League with Barcelona AND the Copa America at international level.

Moves to the likes of Inter Milan, Roma and Napoli are understood to have broken down since his release from the Turin giants, potentially allowing Chelsea a free run at him.
